Understanding Diabetes, Common Types and Its Solutions
Diabetes is a health condition that affects millions of people worldwide. It happens when your body can’t properly manage sugar (glucose) levels in the blood. Normally, our body uses a hormone called insulin to help move sugar from the blood into cells for energy. However, in people with diabetes, either the body doesn’t produce enough insulin or it doesn’t use insulin properly. This causes sugar to build up in the blood, which can lead to serious health problems if not managed.
Types of Diabetes
There are two main types of diabetes: Type 1 and Type 2.
1. Type 1 Diabetes:
This is an auto immune condition where the body attacks the cells in the pancreas that make insulin. People with Type 1 diabetes need to take insulin injections for life because their body can no longer produce it.
2. Type 2 Diabetes :
This is the more common type and usually develops later in life. In Type 2 diabetes, the body still makes some insulin, but it can’t use it effectively. It’s often linked to lifestyle factors such as being overweight, lack of exercise, and an unhealthy diet.
Symptoms of Diabetes
If left untreated, diabetes can lead to serious complications like heart disease, kidney problems, nerve damage, and even blindness.
Managing and Preventing Diabetes :
While Type 1 diabetes can’t be prevented, Type 2 diabetes is often related to lifestyle, meaning that it can be managed or even prevented with certain changes. Here are some solutions:
1. Healthy Diet :
2. Exercise :
Regular physical activity helps the body use insulin more effectively and lowers blood sugar levels. Aim for at least 30 minutes of exercise a day, like walking, swimming, or cycling.
